Such an inspiring discussion. Thank you. I just sent it out to friends to inspire them as well. Your courage is incredible as is your willingness to bravely stand up for freedom in spite of everything you both are going through. We all need to be in solidarity with you and following your example to save our Freedom. So grateful to you both!

You both are such an inspiration & I’m outraged for you. I’m outraged for all of us. In my own little circle of privilege, many in my community won’t attend a march or wear a t-shirt that stands for democracy & freedom of speech. They’re scared for themselves & how they’ll be viewed. Your content is exactly what makes me continue to stand up, speak up & fight back. Thank you for sharing your story & amplifying where we’re headed as a country. I remain optimistic that one day, this regime will face the retribution they deserve!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Today you each have had greater impact than those who try to stop or hurt you.

Olivia, Miles, Hannah, thank you for your courage and your faith in those who are listening and watching you.

Thank you for caring about us, and for ALL who want the courage that you each have as we call ourselves Americans.

May we each live up to our own moments with the courage you have shown.

I echo the sentiment that this was an inspiring discussion. Thanks to both of you for your courage! You have also helped me articulate the importance of protesting, which is one of the activities I engage in - weekly street corner rallies when my work schedule permits, the “Hands Off” protest, “No Kings” day and, just this week, the “Good Trouble” protest. It is critically important to be visible. One of the signs I made read, “Silence is Submission,” which sums up the purpose of this movement. Each time I participate, I bring at least a dozen or more people with me. If we can all do that, our pro-democracy movement will become increasingly hard to ignore. But the most important facet of these experiences is the sense of solidarity. People who feel frightened or isolated attend the rallies and suddenly realize they are not alone. It is empowering. Your encouragement to reach out to others is spot on!

Absolutely outstanding substack. Here’s admiration for your courage, as we are subject to divide and conquer. I’m a Canadian, so I have no direct skin in the game, but the world would miss a US democracy. Please come to Canada if necessary!

I’m having a very hard time believing Murdoch would do the right thing just because that’s the right thing to do - maybe his good son is making the decisions now or it’s something nefarious that tRump and Murdoch are cooking ??

Miles and Olivia, You described the extremely successful women's rights strike in Iceland in the 1970s. This country wide strike hit a cord with me. Women are extremely powerful. Where are the women in America at this time?! We are silent. I recently watched an unlawful ICE raid video, then thought to myself, "When these men return home, how do the women in their lives react and respond, if these wives, daughters, mothers know what the men are up to?" A nationwide women's organization (uprising) could be established if in every town, every city women formed resistance groups. The movement could be one that does not point fingers at specific individuals, but focuses on justice, inclusivity, honesty, etc. I would bet the MidasTouch network would pick up/ air this organization. We need women to stand up now! I would be willing to take part in establishing a movement in my city.

On the other side I’ve seen a number of videos where women get up in the face of the “ice” bullies and back them down.
