Today is a dark day in the United States. Katie Phang and I just finished discussing the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, during which we found out that he’d been pronounced dead.
Let me say this: An act of violence against any public figure endangers all Americans. Censorship by force is not — and never will be, by anyone — acceptable in a free society. As soon as it’s normalized, our First Amendment freedoms are lost.
Political violence is not justified, no matter how much you disagree with someone, and none of us want to live in a nation where magnetometers become a prerequisite for free expression.
Join us in condemning this horrific act of hate. And please amplify calls for leaders of both parties to act responsibly in the days and weeks to come.
