It's Come To This's avatar

A preening asshole determined to be the bride at every funeral, the corpse at every wedding, the baby at every exorcism, rushes to upstage not just local law enforcement, but his own FBI director. Meanwhile, the search warrants haven’t even been executed properly.

Cabal of swaggering, preening, self-fluffing incompetents.

The most frightening aspect of this event for me is the further eroding of my first amendment right of freedom of speech (and possibly thought). Anyone of us to dares to express other than deep grief at Kirk's murder, anyone of us who dares say we need fewer guns, anyone of us who decries far-right or far-left hate rhetoric is suspect. If we are foreign born we may be deported. Who does this? Who allows this? Is this the America my father fought for in WW2? My generation fought for in Vietnam? Others have fought for in Korea? Still others in Afghanistan and Iraq?

In addition to mourning the loss of the free press, I am gravely concerned that this murder will be used as an excuse for both martial law and targeting peaceful demonstrations by moderate and left-leaning citizens. I continue to speak up, attend events and protest, but I must admit that there is now an undercurrent of fear that permeates my consciousness.

Thank you, Miles.

Courage and fear can exist in the same moment. That's what true bravery is, I believe.

“Censorship by gunfire threatens every voice in our democracy. When ideology becomes justification for a bullet, free speech ceases to be a “right” and becomes a “risk.””

Never more prescient words Miles, and MAGA is already trying to stifle speech, not just domestically, but including any foreigners who want to come to America. Dep. Sec. of State Landau has stated as much, while Republican rep Clay Higgins is gearing his sights on any business or individual who criticizes Kirk.

Therefore, this administration has no intention of letting a crisis go to waste. They’ll use this tragedy to implement their fascist agenda and stifle any speech left.

That said, I’ll leave you with the words of Benjamin Franklin:

“Those who would trade essential liberty for some safety deserve neither liberty nor safety"

I refuse to give up my liberty without a fight. Our voice and free speech is all we have left. Let’s never yield to fascism because it’s a movement that will cannibalize us all; and no good will ever come of it! IMHO..:)

In using a search engine to see where else I might comment on "free speech" in relation to "Charlie Kirk," I found this article from April 17, 2025 with the title: "Charlie Kirk splits with Trump on antisemitism crackdown, warns free speech rights under attack." Hmmm.... Charlie Kirk exposing the deep hypocrisy of the Trump administration and Trump's military response to free speech would be troubling, to say the least, to those pushing the regime's agenda.

I have to wonder -- what other president would have said, "I hope he gets the death penalty" ??

It is another indication of lack of integrity.
