I'm a letter writer. I write to everybody, CEOs, Senators & Representatives of both parties whether they are my representative or not. I write to cabinet officials. I wrote a pretty scathing, polite but scathing, letter to Howard Lutnick concerning his statement that anyone that complains if their Social Security check is late is a fraudster! As a recipient of Soc Sec I was highly insulted by that ignorant remark.
Why am I writing this? Just to let you know that I've been in this fight since trump won the election in 2016. On election night I joined the ACLU because I knew there would be abuses. I increased my monthly donation on his second election. I wasn't wrong in 2016 & I'm not wrong now. This POTUS is a danger to our country that far outweighs the wars in which our brave military has served. While all our wars were not just at least the government of the US was relatively dependable to our allies, though we are definitely lacking in credibility when it comes to Muslims. We drop our commitments to them on a regular basis & then wonder why they want to kill us?!
In any case. I'll keep writing & I'll keep going to protests & I'll keep fighting. I have a beautiful 19 year old granddaughter that I'd like to think could live in a decent country!
It's so valuable to have you and Michael Cohen wising us up. The best I got, about what's going on with Trump supporters, was from a buddy whose whole family is Trumpers -- all successful and upstanding. They are convinced the Democrats are all conspiracy people, so they don't pay close attention and facts don't matter.
How about you working up something people like my friend could work with to wise up their nears and dears?
This is a hopeful reminder. I participate in groups (think tanks of sorts), I talk with people and encourage them to get involved and I protest and have recruited others to do the same. Our numbers grow - slowly, but steadily - as people realize that the presence of our voices and our messages rattles and infuriates the president. A rattled leader is more likely to continue making critical mistakes and looking weak to his supporters.
